Meet Sarah of Delilah Events
Sarah is a Colorado-based wedding planner and founder of Delilah Events. She offers a handful of different services, including full-service planning, partial service, month-of-coordination, as well as private event planning and corporate and social events. She prides herself on curating exquisite events that go above ordinary weddings, and elevating the joy of your occasion. She is an absolute gem to have as part of a vendor team!
Q: What inspired you to start Delilah Wedding + Events?
Honestly, I swear I just woke up one day and said, “I want to be a wedding planner,” and I never looked back. I was 15 at the time - so it started as a dream job that just sounded fun, but once I got a taste of it through an internship, I completely fell head over heels for the industry. I loved how it let me use both sides of my brain: the creative side that thrives on storytelling and aesthetics, and the Type A side that adores logistics, structure, and spreadsheets. I'm also a major people person and lifelong people-pleaser, so it just felt like the perfect fit.
After two years of interning and another two as a lead planner, I took the leap and started my own business. It’s wild to think it’s been about six years already - time flies when you’re doing what you love!
Q: What does a wedding planner actually do?
This is the challenge every time I meet a new couple - how do you briefly explain a job that touches almost every part of the planning process? I like to say we’re the conductor of the orchestra, guiding all the instruments (your vendors!) to play in sync so the entire performance - aka your wedding day - hits all the right notes. We help couples navigate a very layered industry, keep things on track, manage timelines and budgets, and yes, we absolutely offer emotional support when things get overwhelming (wedding therapy is very real).
There’s a lot of emailing, timeline building, spreadsheet-ing, creative brainstorming, and problem-solving behind the scenes. But at the core of it all, we’re here to make sure our couples feel excited throughout the process - and totally blown away when their vision comes to life.
Q: Why do you think hiring a planner is one of the best decisions a couple can make?
Weddings should be joyful - not stressful. This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and hiring a planner means giving yourself permission to truly enjoy it. A planner takes on the heavy lifting, solves the inevitable surprises, and serves as your advocate every step of the way. It’s the best investment you can make for peace of mind, and for being able to soak in the experience from beginning to end.
Q: When is the best time to book a wedding planner?
It really depends on the level of support you’re looking for. If you're interested in full-service planning and want help throughout the entire process, I recommend booking around 18 months out - ideally before you’ve locked in your venue, or shortly after. For partial planning or coordination closer to the big day, about 8-12 months out is usually ideal. But truthfully, there’s no wrong time to bring a planner in - we’ll meet you where you are!
Q: What should every couple know before diving into wedding planning?
Trust the pros you hire - it makes the entire journey so much smoother and way more fun. The energy and synergy of your vendor team matters so much, and when you surround yourself with people you feel good about, you’ll actually enjoy the process. Also: things will come up last minute. The key is trusting that your team will handle it, so you don’t have to.
And most importantly? Get hyped! You’re throwing a party to celebrate your love - don’t overthink it. Keep it joyful.
Q: What part of the wedding day do you always look forward to the most?
The speeches always get me - I’m definitely a crier. But more than that, it’s the little in between moments that hit me the hardest: a quiet hug from a parent, a knowing glance between best friends, or a couple cutting loose on the dance floor with their people. Those are the moments that feel truly magical - unscripted, deeply human, and full of love.
Q: From a planner’s perspective, what should couples look for when choosing their wedding photographer?
I love this question! Couples spend more time with their photographer on the wedding day than anyone else (even me!), so it’s super important that there’s a natural connection and you vibe with their energy.
I always recommend asking to see a full gallery so you can get a feel for their style beyond the highlights on Instagram - how they capture emotion, what types of moments they lean into, and how their editing reflects the vibe of the day. A photographer who’s warm, adaptable, and collaborative makes everyone’s job easier.
Q: What makes Delilah Events different from other planners and designers out there?
I truly care about my couples and will go above and beyond to make sure they feel seen, supported, and celebrated throughout the process. I’m not just here to execute - I’m here to build real relationships and honor the unique context, values, and story each couple brings to the table.
Delilah Events is intentionally a small company so I can offer lots of facetime and hands-on attention to every client. Plus, I’ve got a background in social events, galas, and nonprofit fundraisers, which brings a unique range of experience and perspective to the planning table.
