Where to Get Married in San Diego

San Diego is known for it’s beauty, making it an ideal location not only to visit, but to plan a wedding. Here’s where to get married in this sunshine city!

Where to Get Married in San Diego

San Diego is one of those places that has beauty everywhere, and has so many unique places to explore. From warm, sunny beaches of course, to romantic wineries, to buildings with incredible architecture and history. You really can’t go wrong with anywhere here! There’s something to fit everyone, so you’re sure to find exactly what fits your vision of your day. Here are a few of my favorite places around this beautiful city!

Balboa Park

For a wedding with historic charm, Balboa Park has gorgeous Spanish-style architecture, lush gardens, and museums. Popular venues include The Prado and the Japanese Friendship Garden, which gives off a romantic, old-world ambiance. Being as it covers such a large area, you have so much room to explore here and have a variety of photos for your gallery. Just keep in mind, this can be a really popular location so you’ll want to avoid weekends and prime traffic times so you don’t have to stress about parking and overcrowding!

La Jolla

With breathtaking ocean views and elegant venues like the La Valencia Hotel or The Lodge at Torrey Pines, La Jolla is perfect for a romantic coastal wedding. This is definitely one of the most beautiful San Diego beaches, and just the whole surrounding area is stunning! One of these sessions was at La Jolla Beach, and one was at La Jolla Tide Pools, so you can have some options for a backdrop. You can always choose one of the stunning venues, and make time for photos on the beach as well!

Sunset Cliffs

If you're dreaming of something a little more adventurous for your wedding—like saying your vows with the ocean crashing below and the sky putting on a sunset show—Sunset Cliffs might just be your spot. With epic views, cool sea caves, rugged cliffs, and some of the most unreal sunsets in San Diego, it’s the perfect place to kick off your forever in a way that’s totally you. This is another super popular location, so just plan to choose a weekday, and arrive early to snag your spot and some parking before it fills up! And you probably want to stay away from the summertime!

Torrey Pines

Torrey Pines Natural Reserve is a stunning spot to get married, with the golden cliffs, ocean views, and rare pine trees that all create a magical, intimate setting. Whether you say your vows on the cliffs at sunset or on the stunning beach, the natural beauty of this spot makes it an ideal option for a wedding or elopement. And you really can’t beat the crashing of the waves and feel of the ocean breeze!

Coronado

Home to the iconic Hotel del Coronado, this island offers a mix of historic charm and fun beach vibes. Whether on the hotel’s private beach or a yacht overlooking the bay, Coronado is incredibly romantic. Just keep in mind that the hotel can be strict with permits and shooting on the property, so be sure to do your research and plan for this ahead of time!

Point Loma

Point Loma is the cutest little coastal town that’s also home to Liberty Station, another fun wedding location we will dive into below! There’s the Pearl, seen below, that is a little boutique hotel filled with charm, where you can host a wedding or simply just go and enjoy their Wednesday night movie night! You’ll also find Cabrillo National Monument here in Point Loma, which is the most gorgeous historical spot right on the water, with views of the San Diego Bay. If you don’t choose there as a wedding location, it’s still a must-see!

Ruocco Park

Ruocco Park is a fun 3.3 acre park that gives you incredible views of the San Diego Bay, filled with boats that make a beautiful backdrop. It has plenty of space to explore, and also features a public artwork that can add a unique touch to your photos!

Liberty Station

Liberty Station is such a gem here in San Diego and is filled with incredible restaurants, retail shops, art galleries, and of course gorgeous wedding venues! I love the uniqueness in all the buildings, and we had the best time exploring the area for these portraits! You really have it all here at Liberty Station, so what a perfect place for a wedding your guests won’t forget!
